Their win is not your loss!

Their win is not your loss!

Hello February. It’s love month! Romantic love, self love, and love for those around us! A month filled with love, what could be hard about that? While it’s centered around what most consider to be a “Hallmark Holiday,” the heart of it is good and pure. But there’s no doubt it’s flooded with IG posts and TikToks about how great everyone’s life and relationship is, how loved they feel, and how well they’re loving others. Again, that’s all good stuff! But we live in a time where it’s so easy to compare yourself to others, online and in real life (who seemingly have the perfect life?!), especially in February, ahem, Valentine’s Day. Today we bring to you an episode of: how to not compare your life (and successes) to others. This can be career-wise, home buying, marriage, babies, etc. This month we’re focusing on how to celebrate others and not get stuck in the pitfalls of our own lives.

So, seeing as we’re not experts here and can always be learning from those around us, we asked some friends and family in our community for some tools they use to celebrate others more and compare less!

What is a reminder you tell yourself when you are feeling the tendency to compare yourself to someone else?

They are not a reflection of who I am.

I have everything that I need within me.

I remind myself, “I am the girl for this job.”

Their success is not a reflection of my worth.

I tell myself that I don’t know what they’re going through, whatever they have that I don’t have isn’t necessarily bringing them happiness and I try to practice gratitude for the things/experiences I’ve had that not everyone gets.

I can cultivate everything that I see present in them within myself. They are just a reflection of who I want to be / characteristics I want to have.

I remind myself that looks/appearances/relationships are out of my control. Which keeps me working on the things I can control.

I remind myself what wonderful things I have to offer myself and people and how I wouldn’t have those the same if I were someone else.

I know that whoever in my life values me for me deserves to be there and the rest don’t.

I’m downgrading my abilities and beauty and how I present myself to others when I keep wishing I had “xyz” that some else has.

How am I honoring myself and helping myself by doing this right now.

I ask myself, “What are 5 things you’re grateful for right now?” Because a spirit of praise/gratitude cannot coexist with a spirit of anxiety/comparison.

I bring unique value to everything I do in life because no one is exactly like me!! I know there is a special calling in my life (even if it isn’t exactly clear day-to-day lol) 💓

No two people have the same story, and that makes life interesting and good. I want the individual story of my life!

We know, it’s so easy to get caught up in what you want to be doing with your life and maybe feel envious of those around you who are reaching their goals when you feel like you’re trailing behind. We’re here to tell you it’s okay. It’s actually quite normal to have these feelings and thoughts but when they start to overwhelm you, try to let them go and not consume you. Remind yourself that you’re right where you need to be and you have a beautiful, unique life story. Celebrate those around you who are winning. Someone else’s win is not your loss! We saw THIS TikTok and related so hard! Cheers to cheering people on. ❣️
